BrainWorking Recursive Therapy (BWRT) What is it? What can it do for me?

What is BWRT and How Can It Help You? If you've been struggling with stress, anxiety, or other emotional challenges, you might have come across different therapies that promise to help. But what if there was a way to feel better that doesn’t involve rehashing the past or talking endlessly about your problems? That’s where BWRT comes in…

What is BWRT?

BWRT stands for BrainWorking Recursive Therapy, a relatively new and innovative form of therapy designed to help you overcome mental health challenges quickly and effectively. It was developed by Terence Watts in 2011 and has helped millions of people globally.

At its core, BWRT is about helping your brain respond differently to things that bother you - whether it’s a fear, a bad habit, or a distressing memory. It works with the natural processes of your brain to ‘reprogram’ the way you feel and react, allowing you to move forward without being held back by old patterns.

How Does BWRT Work?

Imagine your brain as a powerful computer. Sometimes, it can get stuck in loops, where certain triggers - like a stressful situation - cause the same negative reaction every time. BWRT works by interrupting this loop before the ‘problem’ response can even start.

During a BWRT session, you won’t need to talk in detail about what’s troubling you. Instead, I’ll guide you through a simple mental exercise that helps your brain change its reaction to whatever is causing you distress. You stay fully conscious and in control throughout the process, which often feels more like a creative mental exercise than traditional therapy.

And, one of the best parts… BWRT can often bring about positive change in just a few sessions. It’s designed to be fast, effective, and tailored to your specific needs.

What Can BWRT Help Me With?

BWRT is incredibly versatile and can be used to treat a wide range of issues. Here are some of the most common things it can help with:

Anxiety and Stress

Whether it’s general anxiety, social anxiety, or stress related to specific situations (like public speaking or exams), BWRT can help calm those overwhelming feelings and give you more control over your emotions.

Phobias and Fears

If you have a fear of flying, spiders, heights, or anything else that’s getting in the way of your life, BWRT can help you overcome it.

Habits and Addictions

Struggling to quit smoking or get out of a cycle of unhealthy behaviours? BWRT can help you break free by changing the way your brain responds to triggers.

Depression and Low Mood

For those dealing with depression or feeling stuck in a rut, BWRT offers a way to shift negative thought patterns and move towards a more positive state of mind.

Trauma and PTSD/CPTSD

If you’ve experienced something traumatic, BWRT can help reduce the emotional impact of those memories, allowing you to heal without needing to re-live painful experiences.  Used regularly in the South African Police Service, BWRT allows their officers to reprogram/reset and get back out on duty.

Why Choose BWRT?

One of the main reasons people choose BWRT is its ability to deliver fast results without the need for lengthy therapy sessions. It’s ideal for those who want a practical, no-nonsense approach to feeling better.

This is ideal for Blue Light Counselling clients who work or have worked for the Emergency Services. But this therapy is open to all so please don't think you cannot get in touch. Here’s why so many people are asking for BrainWorking Recursive Therapy:

  • Quick Results. Many people notice a significant difference after just one or two sessions.

  • No Need to Re-live Trauma.  Unlike some therapies, BWRT doesn’t require you to talk in detail about what’s troubling you.

  • Completely Confidential. You only need to share what you’re comfortable with, and all sessions are completely private and independent from your employer.

  • Tailored to You. BWRT can be adapted to suit your unique situation and needs such as Financial Confidence and Success which is very popular as a course of this therapy.
